Denmark

Intercultural Christian Centre

The Intercultural Christian Centre is a national network of 150 Danish Lutheran churches, international/migrant churches and Christian NGOs (see website) which was founded in 1994 as a resource centre for local churches (Danish and non-Danish) and Christian organisations ministering to refugees, immigrants and asylum seekers.

The Centre offers 3-4 annual multiethnic conferences and seminars, publishes a quarterly newspaper where refugees and immigrants tell their stories and church initiatives are described, publishes booklets and resource materials and provides information and support for local churches and others.

The Centre seeks to equip Danish and non-Danish Christians living in Denmark to reach out with the Gospel in word and deed to ethnic minorities.

It is the deliberate policy of the Centre to give Christian refugees and immigrants a platform for speaking, writing and exercising leadership.

Since 2002, our chairman has been Mr. Adnan Dahan, a former UNICEF consultant and a Christian refugee from Iraq.

KIT (Kirkernes Integrations Tjeneste)

Kit helps Danish churches to reach out to immigrants, assists immigrant churches, and also advises the Danish government on integration policy. They would love to network with other projects and pass on their experiences.

FUN is the sister project of KIT. FUN works with young immigrants, encouraging better integration into Danish society through youth clubs, etc.

EQUIP (formerly Enabling Christians in Serving Refugees)

EQUIP connects and supports Christians who work with refugees. EQUIP is an umbrella organisation aiming to equip, network and improve coordination between churches, Christian organisations and individuals working with refugees and asylum seekers in the UK. We are hosted by the charity Action in Communities. We exist to support Christians in their response to the needs of asylum seekers and refugees, reflecting the church's mandate to welcome those outside our communities and to live alongside those who are at risk of isolation.

Gave - connecting the church with refugees

Gave is a Christian Missions Organization that strives to connect churches with refugees – to follow Jesus Christ together. Gave assists churches in starting work among refugees and setting up productive structures. Gave offers intensive assistance, advice and supportive materials. Gave also offers opportunities for missionaries to minister with specific people groups among the refugees.

Regional teams

Gave offers churches in The Netherlands assistance, courses and materials for working among asylum seekers. Gave helps the local church get started, so they can then work independently among asylum seekers. Regional teams provide intensive assistance to help churches minister effectively. Gave has four teams serving the churches in the country.

Language teams

Gave also utilizes language teams, which focus on a specific group of asylum seekers. Currently, a Persian Team organizes activities (Bible studies, cell groups, conferences) among refugees from Iran and Afghanistan. Other meetings and Bible studies are organized for Somalis, Arabic speakers and Kurds. Gave is working to start language teams for these groups as well. If you are interested in this work among specific people groups, please e-mail us.

Secondary activities

Gave encourages churches to build contacts with asylum seekers in their own area. Gave considers this its front-line work – the primary activities. As contact grows, asylum seekers often have a need for meeting people from within their own culture. This is why Gave started secondary support activities. These activities are intended for specific groups of asylum seekers. For example: cell groups, conferences, BEE (English language Bible education) and praise evenings.

St. Levenslicht-vluchtelingenzorg

We take care of asylum seekers whose applications have been rejected within the Netherlands. We also lobby within our network to find resources for refugees, including PTSS support and Stesstraining.
